Dare to dream

Baby booker

I’ve been thinking a lot of dreams lately. Not the dreams we dream when asleep, but the ones we dream with our eyes wide open. Some people dream the wildest dreams, there is no limit to their dreams and everything seems possible. Then there are those who never dream, because they are sure nothing will work anyway. They say the best way to avoid disappointments is not to expect anything.

I’m somewhere in the middle. I dream the wildest dreams and then I start thinking of everything that might go wrong. Sometimes I give the dream up and sometimes I try to make it true. I’m trying to make a dream true right now and the problem is the dream is so big I don’t know where to start. I see the big picture, but get lost in the details. I’m working on getting the details in order to make it easier to see the big picture again. I’ll let you all know what I’m working on in a couple of weeks or so.

What type of dreamer are you?

Welcome back! Nice to see you again, hope you enjoy your visit.

I tend to be like you, Susie. I come up with a dream and then pick it apart by listing all of the things that could possibly go wrong. As a project manager, I know that you need to identify risks with any project you undertake. But the purpose is to be able to mitigate those risks, not necessarily make you cancel the project.

When I was younger I tended to dream large. Time has made me realize that those large crazy dreams are a little too far fetched to come true. Now that I am older my dreams are usually simple and easily attainable.

I love the concept behind your title.…..dare to dream. I know for me that somewhere along the journey of life I began to dismiss the dreams I held i my heart as something that could never be attained.…but my experience is that the dreams are there for a reason and all we need to do is focus on them.……forget the details and focus on the dream.…and in some way, shape or form the universe at large has a way of paving the way step by step, moment by moment towards the bigger picture.

Oh Oh Oh…A big dream, How big?
I am a hold it in your hand and blow the seeds into the air kind of dreamer.
I want to hear about BIG!

That sounds really familiar! I have found that breaking the dream down into do-able parts is the best way to go. It’s hard to do…but worth it. So set small goals…all within the one big one. Not easy for sure! Always keep the big goal in sight. I’m a visual person, so someone once told me to break it down in pictures…have the big goal on the fridge or something…and then all the little ones there as well. I found that helpful. Good luck!

That’s a good skill to have being a project manager. I guess when I cancel a project it’s because I notice how much I need to do and I’m too lazy to do it

When I was younger I dreamed large, but I never had the confidence to do anything about my dreams… I hope I will have the confidence now

I’m trying to forget the details, but while working on the dream I get stuck on the details and that frustrates me sometimes. I think I have to focus on the big picture every time I start working on a detail

You will hear about BIG a little later, and I think I will get myself some seeds and blow them in the air  That sounds like a good way of dreaming…

Thanks, I’m trying to break it down in smaller parts, and then I get lost. I’m so easy to distract and the details make me add even more to the big picture. Need to start putting some boundaries on my dreams

I guess it’s easier to be somewhere in the middle when you’re a little older with some experience to lean on…

I dream of getting from one day to the next. I realize that it’s not that ambitious, but instead of dreams, I just have goals. Maybe the accumulation of successful goals to lead up to the ultimate dream of being financial stable, travel, and other personal accomplishments. But, let’s see what tomorrow brings first :)

Rolando, I think we need both dreams and goals. Dreams are more daring than goals and goals are steps needed to be taken for us to reach our goals. We need to dream of the impossible and we need to put up goals that help us achieve the impossible dreams.

Sounds like a plan. Look forward to hearing what you have cooking in the head of yours.

I think Walt Disney said, “Whatever the mind can conceive, man can achieve.” If I’m wrong on the author of this quote, someone please correct me.

    Look forward to the revelation.

You might have to way a little more before I reveal everything :) It takes more work than I anticipated and I’m already overbooked with work and studies.
