In my last post I was waiting for summer and now summer’s here. This is the first day of my summer vacation, but unfortunately it does not look like summer when I look out the window. It’s raining and it’s also quite cold.
This summer will be different from my previous summers in the way that I will travel more. I’ve always said that summer is the time of year I would not want to spend anywhere else in the world but here. The light summer nights, the birds singing, midsummer night and happy children, strawberries and whipped cream, fresh blueberries and lovely blueberry pie… summer in Finland is special.
Life is what we make of it, it’s all about attitude. Next week I will pack my backs and leave for a two week trip to Florida. I’ve never been in Florida in the summer before and I’m a little afraid I will not be able to manage the heat. I’ve never been anywhere where it’s really hot, Florida during Christmas is a little bit like a really hot Finnish summer, and that’s ok for me. What I’m hoping for though, is that I’ll be able to manage the heat well and that we will be able to visit Key West… and I will also be celebrating 4th of July, which is an experience I’m really looking forward to.
Another thing I’m looking forward to this summer is a one week trip to Cambridge. My employer decided to give us employees the opportunity to better our English. I’ve been studying English on-line now for a couple of weeks and in August I get to study in Great Britain, another country I never visited before.
So, life is about attitude… you either do what you’ve always done, or you do something new… whatever you do, have an open mind… that’s what I’m going to do… and enjoy the little things, or the big ones… that’s what I’m going to do too…
Have a happy summer!
Welcome back! Nice to see you again, hope you enjoy your visit.

Susie, I agree with you that Life is about attitude. Actually I do beleive that the way we see life shapes how we deal with it so keep on the openess.
That said, your talking about traveling reminds me with Elizabeth Gilbert’s Eat, Pray, Love; I’ve no idea whether you read it or not but I recommend that you do so once you’ve spare time.
Hicham´s last blog ..Sorry!

I don’t think I’m ready for the heat either yet. It’s been so cold no time to acclimate my body.

Hicham, I haven’t read Elizabeth Gilbert, but I’ll check into it.
Marc, we had a couple of hot days here in Finland already, but one thunderstorm turned us back to the cold.
