When I started selling vector images I started out with Inkscape. Inkscape is easy to learn to use and best of all it’s free. A new version of the software will be released soon, but I’ve always used the nightly builds on Windows or compiled the latest version on Ubuntu. You can find the latest release for your operating system here: Inkscape.org.
There are not that many tutorials on how to use Inkscape, but I found enough to get started with the software. Below you can find links to those I found useful.
The Official Inkscape Manual
The InkscapeTutorials weblog
HeathenX’s Screencasters
Inkscape: Guide to a Vector Drawing Program
Learn Digital Design
Welcome back! Nice to see you again, hope you enjoy your visit.

Thanks for sharing the inkscape info, but I am not sure how to access the info! When I click on it, I get a box that seems to be inactive. Clicking on the lesson doesn’t work. I can’t seem to find the web address either. Your help is much appreciated! Thanks!

I’m sorry, but I don’t know why the links don’t work for you. Might be because they open up in a new window and you have a pop-up blocker. I’ll edit the post and make the links open in the same window, hopefully that will help.

Thanks for this great list. Have bookmarked it and will refer people to it often. Would suggest one more great set of video tutorials. http://learndigitaldesign.com/school.php?title=1
